Kenya: Integration in the health system
Kenya has one of the strongest economies in Southeast and Central Africa. Nevertheless, the supply of glasses is very insufficient, especially in poor rural areas. The country is divided into 47 semi-autonomous counties.
In Kenya OneDollarGlasses is active in Kisii, one of the 47 counties in the south-west of the country near Lake Victoria.
The goal: integration of OneDollarGlasses into the public health system. In a first pilot phase, our team trained nurses in performing eye tests. The activities are now to be extended to the staff of small health centers.
